We are working with the following organisations to realise our aims:

The Cambodia Trust works towards a vision of equal rights for disabled people, in an inclusive barrier-free society. The trust builds local capacity in prosthetics and orthotics in Cambodia to ensure the sustainability of rehabilitation services for disabled people. It runs community-based rehabilitation projects to enable more disabled children to attend school, and to empower disabled adults to live self-sufficient lives as part of the community. The trust has three rehabilitation centres in Cambodia, where local staff make and fit prosthetic limbs and orthopaedic braces, and provide wheelchairs and physiotherapy.

Handicap International (Belgium) has been working in Cambodia since 1991. The organisation implements and supports projects in various fields: disability, health, education, rural and urban development, infrastructure, and micro-credit. The general strategy of Handicap International Cambodia is to strengthen the social and economic development mechanisms of rural and urban populations, and to facilitate the inclusive development processes for vulnerable populations and disabled people.

Participating Schools

Participating schools include The Rabbit School, based in Phnom Penh. This was the first school in the whole of Cambodia, and is now only one of very few that cater for children with disabilities. There are approximately 30 children at the Rabbit school, who have all been orphaned or abandoned by their families. All of them have disabilities; some very severe. Dedicated Cambodian teachers and physiotherapy aides give tuition and therapy five days a week. The hope and dream of The Rabbit School is that it will be a place where ALL children will learn to live and grow.

For more information about The Rabbit School, please contact Mr Han Touch, Head Teacher, at the following Address: #59, Monivong, Sang Kat Srah Chork, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh. Tel: +855 (0)12 369 376. E-mail: huntouchrabbit@yahoo.com

NASCO Orphanage is another organisation participating in the project. Based in the north of Phnom Penh, the orphanage supports approximately 30 children, whose parents have died from the HIV/Aids virus, or who can no longer look after to them due to the illness. The children learn traditional dance and English, but have limited space in which to move around or exercise within the city. Facilities are very basic, with children sleeping on the floor, and much is needed in the way of facilities and food.

For more information on NASCO Orphanage or to arrange a visit,, please contact Sous Namee, English Teacher, at the following Address: #107, Street 80, Sangkat Sras Chork, Khan Duan Penh, Phnom Penh. Tel: +855 (0)12 840 441. E-mail: sousnameee@yahoo.com / naca_orphanage@yahoo.com.
